It looks like several celebrities including Super Junior member Sungmin and actor Yoo A-in could be taking up their military duties in a few months time.

According to the website of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Tuesday, a total of eight people including the aforementioned two, along with boy band Choshinsung’s Sungjae and actor Choi Jin-hyuk, recently tried out for the Seoul Police Promotion Team and made it through to auditions.

The Seoul Police Promotion Team, one of the departments celebrities can serve in as part of fulfilling Korea’s two-year mandatory military duties, provides theatrical plays to the disabled, elderly, and teenagers as a means of informing them on social issues.

Those who make it into the Seoul Police Promotion Team will start their duties between May and August of this year, although the exact date cannot be set much in advance because they go into office when there is a vacancy.

The agencies of Sungmin and Yoo acknowledged that their stars are up for auditions, but that they have yet to know when they will start their duties.

If Sungmin enters the military, he will become the fifth member of his idol group to be undertaking or have completed his military duties: Lee Teuk and Yesung are currently on duty while Kang In and Heechul are done.

Yoo is currently filming his drama “Secret Love Affair” (translated title) and is set to appear in film “Veteran” (translated title) as well.
